One flatmate pays the bills. Then chases everyone all month.
You know the drill. Someone pays the electricity, someone else pays the maid, groceries go on whoever's card, and by month end nobody remembers who owes what. Splitting apps can tell you the totals, but someone still has to chase. With Toli the month's money is in one kitty on the 1st, and every bill paid from it is already split.

Using Toli today: the UPI Circle beta
Until the group wallet launches, the pool is the treasurer's own bank account. UPI Circle lets friends pay from it with their own UPI app. Toli keeps the record, splits every payment and tells you who owes what. These are the four buttons in the app.
Pay in
Send your share to the treasurer's UPI ID and log it. The treasurer confirms once it lands.
▶ WatchPaid from pool
Scan a QR in your own UPI app with UPI Circle. The money leaves the treasurer's account. Log it and Toli splits it.
▶ WatchPaid myself
Paid with your own money or cash? Log it, and Toli makes sure you get it back at the end.
▶ WatchSettle up
At the end, Toli shows who gets what back. The treasurer refunds by UPI and marks each one done.
▶ WatchUPI Circle limits: the treasurer can add up to 5 people, each payment can be up to ₹5,000 and up to ₹15,000 a month per person. For bigger groups, the treasurer pays and everyone logs. Try the beta
Splitwise keeps score. Toli holds the money.
Splitting apps are good at recording who owes whom. But one friend still pays first, and someone still has to chase. Toli collects the money before anyone spends, so there's nothing to settle afterwards.
Splitwise tells you Meera owes ₹2,600 for this month. With Toli, Meera's share was in the kitty on the 1st.
Splitwise is a trademark of its owner. Toli is not affiliated with Splitwise.
How it works
From the group chat to the last refund, in four steps.
Start a toli
Name your flat, invite your flatmates from WhatsApp, and everyone verifies their ID once in the app.
Load the wallet
On the 1st, everyone adds their share from any UPI app. Toli shows who's paid in and who hasn't, so nobody has to ask.
Spend from it
Scan any UPI QR in the Toli app. The amount leaves the group wallet and splits between the people you pick.
Top up or get it back
Next month, everyone tops up only the difference. When someone moves out, what's left of their share goes back to their bank account.

Your money stays with a bank.
The group wallet is issued by our RBI-regulated partner bank. Toli is the app on top: it shows the wallet, splits every payment and sends refunds through the bank.
Held by a regulated bank
Money loaded into a toli sits with the partner bank, not in Toli's accounts.
Everyone's verified
Each member completes a quick ID check once, as RBI rules require for wallets.
Spending controls
Pause spending, set limits per person and approve big payments from the app.
Refunds to your own account
Leftover money only ever goes back to the bank account that loaded it.
Questions
How is Toli different from Splitwise?
Splitwise records who owes whom, so one friend still pays upfront and then chases everyone for their share. Toli collects everyone's share into a group pool before the trip, pays from that pool, and splits each payment as it happens. When the trip ends, the leftover goes back to each person. Nobody fronts money and nobody chases anyone.
Is there an app I can download?
Yes. Open toli.one/app on your phone and install it: on Android tap Install Toli (or ⋮ → Add to Home screen), on iPhone tap Share → Add to Home Screen in Safari. It gets its own icon and opens full screen like any other app. Play Store and App Store versions come later.
Who holds the money?
A regulated partner bank issues each group wallet. Toli never keeps your money in its own accounts.
Does everyone need to do KYC?
Yes. Each member verifies their ID once in the app before loading money, because RBI rules require it for wallets. It takes a few minutes.
Where can we pay?
Anywhere that takes UPI: scan any UPI QR code in India, from a hotel desk to an auto, and pay from the group wallet in the Toli app.
What if someone skips a dinner or leaves early?
Take them off that payment and Toli re-splits it among the rest. Their refund at the end stays fair.
What happens to money left over?
When you close the toli, the leftover is refunded to each member's own bank account, based on what they put in and what they spent.
Can anyone in the group spend?
Every member can pay, and the group sets the rules: per-person limits, approval for big payments, or only one person who can spend.
Is there a card?
Groups of friends pay with UPI from the app. Cards are part of Toli for business, for companies that want a card per team.
What does it cost?
Creating a toli and paying with UPI will be free. We'll share pricing for extra features before launch.
